Online Ancient Greek

Dr. Cohen’s videos explaining Ancient Greek grammar have been used in classes at Bryn Mawr College, the University of Michigan, Loyola Maryland, Princeton, and Yale.  Her approach is practical while delighting in the idiosyncrasies of Greek and language itself.  In her courses and tutoring, she provides drills, feedback, and personal attention to guide students to understanding of Greek texts in philosophy, religion, archaeology, drama, history, epic, and love poetry.

She offers beginning ancient Greek online in two ways:
— two summer five-week, 4-credit classes, Greek 1101 and Greek 1102, at an intensive pace
— an option where that same material, totaling 8 credits, is available as 8 sequential modules. Each module is a separate course, and you sign up for the modules/courses you plan to complete in each session. The 1-credit courses are GREK 1111, 1112, 1113, 1114 (together, those four are equivalent to Greek 1101) and GREK 1121, 1122, 1123, and 1124 (the four exquivalent to Greek 1102). They’re all available all sessions, and you can decide how many and when you want to take them, as long as you take them in order. Here’s a little video to explain:

Dr. Cohen also now offers Intermediate Greek, in the same modular, choose-your-own-pace model. The first four-credit sequence will focus on New Testament Greek. The courses are an opportunity to put your new Greek skills to use with a lot of support, review concepts that maybe didn’t sink in so well at first, and get more practice with reading as you start to feel more confident.
